It is always recommended to confirm with Dealer Solutions if the Government Qualification exists on a particular CRN prior to sending your transaction (please refer here for advice on lodging a CRN check) Government departments are treated slightly differently to Qualifying Institute and Ex-serviceperson. They will have a special qualification attached to their CRN. If they have this qualification attached, there is no need to select an exemption category, but just tick the ‘GOVT s/d exemption applies’ check box. It is important to remember that this exemption category only applies to actual government departments. Sometimes you can identify if they are government department by their name (Example: The Department of Health, The Department of Education). If you customer has indicated Government stamp duty exemption, contact Dealer Solutions for verification. DASFLEET registrations are slightly different, while being for government departments, they will still need to provide a statement outlining which government department will be using the vehicle (it must state that they will be using it for a minimum of three months) and it must list the garaging address for the vehicle on it (see example). When processing a registration to DASFLEET, you will need to select Qualifying Institute for your stamp duty exemption. If processing a registration to a local council, then you will also need to select the concessional registration category of ‘Local/Semi gov’ as there is also an entitlement to receive concessional registration as well as the stamp duty exemption. |
