You will need to verify that a business has registered its trading name with ASIC and confirm the registered operator details.

Completing a search with ASIC should provide the details you need to  confirm that the trading name has been registered, and to provide the registered operator details.

After your search has been completed – print out your search result and keep this with your deal pack.

 

 

1.Load the ASIC website (http://www.asic.gov.au)

2.Locate the “Search ASIC Registers” section on the Right Hand Side and select the Business name Index from the Common Register drop down list

3.Enter in the business name that you need to confirm is registered in the “For” field.  Click on the Go button to perform the search.

4.Locate the match, you may have multiple business to select from and you will need to locate the correct match based on the details provided from your customer.

5.The details of the business will display.  From here you can confirm the business details by Name, and Principle place of business

6.Take note of the Holder details as these are what you will need to use as the Registered Operator in your transaction.

7.Print out a copy of your search result by clicking on the printer icon and ensure that you keep a copy of this printout with your deal pack.
