Replacement Plate

Top  Previous  Next

You will process this transaction when you need to take plates off a vehicle and attach them to another one.  In most situations, it will involve personalised plates or customised number plates.

Remember that a customer’s personalised plate should never be attached to vehicle that is owned by the dealership.

If you are purchasing a customers trade, which has a personalised plate attached, you will need to replace the plate first, and then process your acquisition.    Likewise, if you are selling a used vehicle to a customer and they would like their personalised plate to be attached, then you will need to process the transfer first, then replace after the transfer is complete.

You will need the plate owners CRN to process this transaction. Remember that it can be different to the registered operator of the vehicle that they are attached to.    You can confirm if a CRN is the plate owner by processing a Check Plate Owner  or a CRN Check (see here for more information).

IMPORTANT – Remember that any vehicle that you are replacing plates on should NOT be driven until the new number plate is attached.  A good rule of thumb is:  If you do not have it on site, then do not replace the plates.
